The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated today in the fourth G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group Ministerial, held in Mpumalanga, Republic of South Africa, with a delegation led by President of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) Mazin bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous.
Al-Kahmous praised South Africa for its notable achievements under its G20 presidency, particularly its focus on promoting solidarity, equality, and sustainability. He also expressed appreciation to the Federative Republic of Brazil for its continued support to South Africa’s G20 presidency.
The Nazaha president highlighted that since the launch of Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom has pursued a strategic approach to combating cross-border crimes, with corruption at the forefront, recognizing its threat to sustainable development and good governance. He emphasized that the Kingdom has worked to establish a comprehensive institutional framework that strengthens integrity and transparency while advancing international cooperation in this field.
Al-Kahmous also pointed out challenges such as the lack of precise and objective tools to measure the impact of anti-corruption efforts, emphasizing the need for practical recommendations to improve these mechanisms. He noted that the Kingdom has collaborated with several international organizations to develop tools that enable countries to assess the effectiveness of their anti-corruption measures and enhance integrity standards.
On the sidelines of the ministerial meeting, Al-Kahmous held discussions with heads of delegations from the United States, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Singapore, and the Italian Republic, as well as representatives from the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation to combat cross-border crimes linked to corruption and on topics of mutual interest.
