Saudi Arabia, represented by the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), chaired the sixth plenary meeting of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network), held in Azerbaijan from May 20 to 23.
Nazaha President Mazin Al-Kahmous delivered a speech highlighting the Kingdom's commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation through the establishment of joint mechanisms and the sharing of expertise. This includes pursuing corrupt individuals, tracking and recovering stolen assets, and contributing to the promotion of justice.
He emphasized that this approach reaffirms the Kingdom’s pivotal role in supporting global anti-corruption efforts and its commitment to collaborative action. He also underscored the Kingdom’s support for the GlobE Network, ensuring alignment with its vision and objectives.
The GlobE Network, an initiative launched by Saudi Arabia during the 2020 G20 summit ministerial meeting it hosted, was officially adopted by the United Nations on December 17, 2021, during the ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption. In just three years, the network has grown to include 235 anti-corruption agencies and international organizations from over 126 countries, highlighting its significant global impact and success.
In February 2025, the Kingdom assumed the presidency of the GlobE Network at the UN Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, for the 2025–2027 term. This achievement underscores the Saudi leadership’s commitment to establishing the Kingdom as a global leader in various fields, including the fight against corruption. It also reflects the international community's confidence in the Kingdom's efforts, spearheaded by Nazaha, to combat transnational corruption and develop effective tools to address emerging trends and the concealment of illicit proceeds.
