As part of Nazaha's Global Initiative to Measure Corruption, H.E. the President of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) Mr. Mazin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous met, Tuesday, 5 of November 2024, in Vienna, a delegation from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) headed by Ms. Brigitte Strobel, Chief of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch, and Ms. Angela Me, Chief of Research and Trend Analysis.
H.E. also met with a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) headed by Ms. Sarah Lister, Director of Governance, and with the participation of Mr. Anga Timilsina, UNDP's Global Programme Advisor of Anti-Corruption, and Ms. Aida Arutyunova, Anti-Corruption Programme Manager.
He also met with a delegation from the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) headed by Ms. Slagjana Taseva, the Dean of IACA and with the participation of Ms. Petra Susak, Head of General Management, and Mr. Hamad Al-Subaie, Anti-Corruption Expert.
During the meeting, they discussed the progress made in implementing Nazaha's Global Initiative to Measure Corruption, and the expected outcomes of the Second Global Conference on Harnessing Data to Improve Corruption Measurement, scheduled to be held at the headquarters of the United Nations Development Programme in New York, USA in the fourth quarter of 2025.
It is worth mentioning that the First Global Conference on Harnessing Data to Improve Corruption Measurement was held with the support of Nazaha at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna in 2023. The "Vienna Principles Towards a Global Framework for the Measurement of Corruption" were launched during this conference. Nazaha works in partnership with several international organizations to issue a global corruption measurement index to be launched during the Second Global Conference. The index is based on scientific and objective foundations while taking into account the differences of the domestic legal framework of each country.
